Human Nature and Family
Animals have evolved over million years. Over this long period, they sought and found ways to live comfortably, taught their offspring, which in turn taught their offspring. This is animal nature.
It is the nature of monkeys to live in trees because it is most comfortable for them. Living in trees provides them protection from enemies and food. Breaking away from this behavioral pattern would leave them at a loss with no means to protect themselves or obtain food.
What is the nature of man? Human beings are definitely animals that live in groups. Unlike other animals that live in groups, such as zebras and monkeys, however, man is different in that we form family clusters. In other words, the human unit is the family, and that is the human nature.
Humans formed family units, and then join larger communal units, which then made it possible for us to form even larger groups. As a group, we have struggled for existence and established ourselves on the earth. At the same time, man began to yearn for a family structure which represented happy life. Consequently, a damaged family structure leads to a weaker position in the communal group and happiness is lost. It is the strong ties among family members that bring happiness.
Residents of this facility would mostly likely be elderly living alone; but still, they need to feel the strong ties of a family. These people have lived through difficult times, and have pride and self-respect that come from having worked hard and raised their children. They are kind people who sincerely wish to maintain strong ties with their families. When this wish becomes one-way, not being accepted by their children and their families, they feel unloved and disrespected. They become apathetic, unhappy, and stressed, which leads to illness.
Nuclear families have become common today, and the awareness of family structure that includes grandparent generation has become obsolete. Dutiful sons and daughters are a lost concept. No matter how hard our staff members try to provide the perfect living environment to our residents, we cannot bring true happiness to their lives.
Therefore, we have decided on examine the state of mind of potential residents, their relationships with family members, and the position they are in before accepting applicants. We also intend to create a place where the residents and their families are able to maintain ties, however far away they may live. One way is to add a lodging facility for families.
